When Zen masters want to achieve a high state of being, they generally go into solitary confinement. They know that any form of interaction with other human beings can, and will, take them out of their spiritual path. If you are on a quest to achieve a high level of spiritual refinement, you may wish to consider curtailing your social interactions.
You do not need to become a hermit, however, you need to take stock of each relationship, and each person with whom you have frequent interactions. Consider their effect on you, and ask the indwelling Holy Spirit Of God for assistance in curtailing each relationship. Spousal interactions may also need to be curtailed, especially if you spend all day texting each other, speaking on the phone or in FaceTime, or otherwise interacting.
