THINKING IT THROUGH

When the Lord God Almighty called me to be a messenger to his people, I wondered why. I was a lawyer, engaged in the practice of law, with no intention of ever giving it up. It scared me that he was calling me to be a theologian.

I now know that what he needed the most was, not a theologian, but someone with grit and determination; someone who would never ever betray him, betray the cause, or let go of the reins after they had been taken up; someone who would be willing to die to themselves and to everything they cherish, if in doing so, God's will and purpose for his kingdom could be established; someone who, if it rained all day and all night, would hold fort until the sun began to shine once again; someone who would absolutely refuse to say even one word in contradiction of the Word of God.
