I don't know much about basketball but I do know that a point guard is the person who determines what if any actions must be taken in order to win the game. He is the field operative. In the spiritual realm, both God and Satan need "point guards." The point guards are their eyes and ears in the earth. While it is true that God is everywhere, he relies on us to take the necessary action in order to ensure ultimate victory.
Point guards for Satan are all appointed. Satan tells them the identity of the victim and what they need to accomplish. For some victims, it is death or illness; for others, it is economic ruin; and for others it is a "natural" disaster. His point guards dutifully fulfill his every mandate. In contrast, point guards for God are always self-appointed. They are men and women who know the mission (establishing God's kingdom) and seek to find and fulfill their purpose in relation to that mission. And when they recognize Satan's agenda for a specific person or entity, they take the initiative to block his agenda from manifesting.
When the bells toll at the end of the current age, they will proudly look back at all the ways in which they contributed to the accomplishment of the goal of establishing God's kingdom in the earth. They will have confidence that this was not a stolen goal, but one justly earned as a result of hard work. To them, the Lord will gladly say, "Well done good and faithful servant" because they understood that God's grace is not the beginning and the end. His grace cleanses and equips us to enter the battlefield and fight the good fight.
