Blinking is an automatic activity that takes virtually no effort to accomplish. It begins in the brain when the eyes indicate that they need moisture. A blink coats the eye with water and keeps it lubricated. There are many other things that we do automatically, such as chewing when food is in the mouth, and sneezing when we breathe in an irritant. Worship is not something that should be done with our brain in automatic. Worship is a prayerful, deliberative experience such that when we say the "Our Father" we should mean the words, and when we pray the prayer of confession we should be thinking of all the sins we committed for which we need God's forgiveness. When worship becomes prayerful, thoughtful, and deliberate, we will find that manifestation of the things for which we pray will also become automatic.
