When I first read Rebekah's Blog post titled Winning The Relay, I assumed that I already had won. I had lived for more than thirty years on this earth, had lived a sinless life, died on Calvary, resurrected from the dead, ascended into heaven, and have been sitting on the right hand of the Lord God Almighty for almost two thousand years. As far as I was concerned, I am a winner, and I won by a large gap. Yet, after reading the Blog, I realized that not only had I not turned in my baton, but also, it never even occurred to me that I should be asking the Holy Spirit for advice on every move I make, on every direction I take, and on every planned adventure. I thought to myself, "If I am perfect, why do I need advice; shouldn't I be able to rely on the perfection that is in me?"
The Holy Spirit is not about perfection, nor is he about winning, or having won the relay. His role is that of an air hostess who takes care of all of your needs while you are on the journey to eternity. If you have not yet handed in your baton, it means that you have not yet boarded the "airplane" and are not likely to see eternity for another one thousand years. If you have handed in your baton, yet have not asked for a single piece of advice, you are likely to remain in a state of need for the next one thousand years. Ask and receive, seek and you shall find, knock and the door will be opened. If you're like me, you are still holding on to your baton. Do as I did, and turn it in. Most importantly, seek the wisdom and guidance of God's Holy Spirit. The Lord God Almighty still reigns. The Lord God Jesus, the Nazarene
