Greed always needs a purveyor in order to function most effectively. It requires a systemized methodology by which the purveyor and the recipient can interact. It also requires reward systems to be in place in order to ensure that there is motion. Without motion, greed is not a true motivator. One of the reward systems for greed is money, and another is promotion. Promotion can take place either within or outside of the greed apparatus.
At a moment's notice, greed can function to change the course of history. In one instant, one is traveling down a certain road, and in a flash, greed can put you on a different road to destruction. Last night, one of the purveyors of greed prrevailed upon the manager of an eating establishment to snatch my purse when I wasn't looking. He took it to an upper level that was off limits, hoping to lure me into retrieving it. He was offered $100 for his efforts. When I told him that my purse had been stolen and asked his assistance in retrieving it, he refused; he knew where it was and didn't want to waste his time pretending to search. He also knew that if he called the police for a different issue unrelated to me or to my purse, they would support him in rebuffing my request that the premises be searched. And that is exactly what they did. They claimed to be there to enforce the law, yet when a violation of the law was brought to their attention, they refused to even consider remedying the problem. When a uniformed officer stares a crime in the face and turns away, does he become complicit with the perpetrator? And does he also indicate his team membership? The extent of the planning and coordination that has gone into Satan's mission boggles the mind. He has a spirit that when placed in his followers throughout the world, can coordinate the tiniest detail with precision. Everyone on his team knows exactly what they are supposed to do and they do it without fail. The instant gratification moves and motivates them. God does not believe in instant gratification. He knows that it is the foundational element in greed. He also knows that when the motivation is an instant reward, there is no character development in the process. So, Satan's mission seems to flourish like a well-oiled machine, while God's mission languishes for lack of an instant reward system. At the end of the day, God still wins this battle because any system built on instant gratification is destined to crumble when the instant rewards end.
