CHEERIOS, THE CEREAL

Cheerios are a circular wheat product similar to a tiny donut that is used as a perfect anytime snack for kids, a breakfast cereal, and a tool for developing and practicing hand-eye coordination in infants. Mothers love the ease of using a quarter cup of Cheerios to keep their infants engaged and preoccupied. The devil has a version of Cheerios which he refers to as "important stuff." They are the things he uses to keep us engaged and preoccupied while he deftly chips away at the foundation of our life and of our world.

We have arrived at a point in time at which the most important thing to us (if we are, or seek to become, disciples of Jesus) is the imminent arrival of the millennial kingdom of God. The Scriptures admonish us to seek first and above all else, God's kingdom and his righteousness, and everything else that we need for life and health will be given to us  (Matthew 6:33). Do we dare to trust God's wisdom, set aside our daily preoccupations, regardless of how important they appear to be, and give his kingdom top priority in our lives?
