The last thing that anyone would want to do is to make an assumption that proves to be wrong. We want all of our assumptions to prove to be accurate. We want to know that when we make an assumption, it manifests in exactly the way in which we stated it. But assumptions are rarely accurate, especially when they are based on incomplete information. It is impossible to arrive at an accurate judgment when half of the information is missing.
Accordingly, the only justifiable solution is to insist that every assumption that is based on incomplete information must be positive. It must give the benefit of the doubt to the party against whom the assumption is made. It must lay aside all evil thoughts, and assume only the best. It must give glory to the Lord God Almighty.
