Having the indwelling Holy Spirit of God and being fully surrendered to God is just the beginning of the Christian walk, or the walk as a disciple of Jesus. The work begins in earnest when you make a decision to fully and completely surrender to God. The image of our surrender grows in complexity as God begins to reveal to us all of the areas of our life and the nuances of our existence that have not been surrendered to him. Therefore, the months and years subsequent to the initial decision to surrender to God should be a time of explosive spiritual growth, because each level of growth brings with it an awakening as to the other areas of our spiritual walk that require transformation.
The Scriptures state in 2 Peter 1:5-8 that you should "make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self control; and to self control, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection (kindness); and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ." If your church or congregation is not experiencing explosive growth spiritually and numerically, it is a sign that the members are not actively seeking to grow in the listed qualities.
